Ola everybody, it's Carmen. We're talking about silk, and today I'm going to give you the lowdown on momme count. Silk isn't like cotton. It's just too fine to measure by thread count, so people that know will give you a momme number. Momme count is the weight of a standard unit of fabric, so the lower the count, the thinner the fabric. Low momme count might be great for an evening gown, but when it comes to your bedding, it just won't cut it.

On the other hand, you don't want to go too heavy either. For example, 25 momme count -you're going to feel like you're sleeping under your drapes. So if you want to be right in the perfect zone, it's 22. Twenty-two, that's the magic number for the optimum in depth, durability, and feel, and of course, that magical drape. So next time you're shopping for silk sheets, look for 22. Your skin will thank you.
