Ola everybody, it's Carmen. We're talking about silk, and today I'm going to give you the lowdown on mulberry. I've been sleeping on mulberry silk sheets for years and I love the way they feel and I love the way they look. But what is mulberry? It comes from the spun cocoons of silkworms that have eaten only mulberry leaves, and it's like a super food for these little guys. One hundred percent long-stand mulberry silk is the only way to go. It produces a longer, wider, more durable thread than wild silk.
For thousands of years, the finest white mulberry trees have grown in China, and to this day the best silk producers still get their silk from there. Throughout the country, there are mulberry farms where thousands of silkworms eat nothing but mulberry leaves. And this is definitely one case where farmed is better than wild. Wild silk is plainly just not as good. Make sure that when you're buying silk sheets, it's 100 percent mulberry. You'll be glad you did.
