I love silk and I love to shop and I want to share with you four different tips on how to get real quality. When you're buying silk, you must pay attention to the type of silk, the type of weave, the weight of the fabric, and the workmanship. One hundred percent long-strand mulberry silk is the only way to go. It produces a longer, wider, more durable thread than wild silk.

And if you're buying the best silk, you're going to want the best weave. The best charmeuse is produced on traditional narrow looms and has a subtle sheen on one side and a luxuriously smooth matte finish on the other. Nothing looks or feels like it. You also need fabric with the right weight and this is measured in momme, and the sweet spot for bedding and sleepwear is 22. Deeper, richer and more durable than most, it still drapes beautifully and it breathes perfectly in warm weather.

And finally, great silk needs great workmanship. It's a very tough fabric to sew and when you see the shoddy workmanship behind so many online brands, you start to realize that with silk a cheap price means a cheap product. So when you're buying silk bedding, make sure that you know what to look for so you can get the quality that you deserve.
